    Major Dunne

    A northern Irish swede with upright habit. Good sweet flesh, purple skin and grows to a good size, lasting all winter.

  • Williamsburger


    This swede comes from a collection of old varieties grown in Ireland. Very hardy, can grow up to 30cm across with pale flesh & mild flavour.

  • Western Perfection

    Western Perfection

    Popular heritage variety from Co. Cork. Medium-sized turnip with long purple / magenta skin & delicious golden flesh. Lasts well through the winter & into spring.

  • Old Jake

    Old Jake

    This variety is new to us, coming originally from a ship-wreck on North Haven Island off the coast of Maine. It has excellent flavour and hardiness, keeping well into spring. Very upright in the ground with purple skin.

  • Tipperary turnip

    Tipperary turnip

    A native Irish variety of swede turnip still remembered by many. Hardy and disease-resistant with a delicate, mellow, sweet flavour.

  • Backweston selection

    Backweston selection

    Native Irish heritage selected at Backweston research station. Big purple-skinned roots of good flavour and hardiness.

  • White egg turnip

    White egg turnip

    Quick-growing white mild-flavoured summer turnip. Excellent for successional sowing. Originally from the American Seed Savers' Exchange.

  • Best of all

    Best of all

    An Irish landrace, traditional swede/turnip, with purple and white skin growing to a good size. Golden flesh very sweet and tasty.

  • Black sugar sweet

    Black sugar sweet

    This variety orginally came from a seed stall in la Ramblas in Barcelona. It has very long roots, that keep well even through winter. Black skin surrounds firm white flesh which has a sweet sugary flavour.
