Salad, leaves and greens

  • Mustard lettuce

    Mustard lettuce

Quick-growing annual with easily-harvested leaves that have a tender, delicious tang - a nice addition to salads or 'mustard and cress' mixes.

  • Winter of Bordeaux endive

    Winter of Bordeaux endive

Easy-to-grow broadleaf hardy variety. Crisp furled leaves give nice texture to salad. Delicious, fresh (but slightly bitter) flavour. Responds well to cut-n-come-again harvesting, productive all through winter. Blanching the leaves can sweeten the flavour.

  • Salad Rocket

    Salad Rocket

Salad green, cultivated since Roman times. Nutty, spicy leaves add zest to salads. Best grown in cooler conditions, Spring and Autumn.

  • Tatsoi Pak Choi

    Tatsoi Pak Choi

Loose headed variety with a flat open habit and spoon shaped dark green glossy leaves. Crops well through the winter with a pronounced flavour for salads and stir fries.

  • Winter Purslane / Miner's Lettuce

    Winter Purslane / Miner's Lettuce

Attractive winter salad crop. Leaves, stems and flowers are all edible and refreshingly succulent. Best a few leaves at a time, i.e. cut 'n' come again. Extremely cold-tolerant.

  • Shun Giku / Chop Suey Greens

Shun Giku / Chop Suey Greens

Flavoursome serrated leaves tasting somwhere between celery and carrots. Grows well over winter under cover and provides a spectacular display of yellow / orange flowers in summer.

  • Corn salad

    Corn salad

This extremely hardy salad plant has been cultivated and eaten for centuries. The small green leaves have a gentle flavour and soft texture, invaluable in winter salads.

  • Mizuna

Oriental green leaf with glossy, serrated, dark green leaves forming bushy clumps. Mild, slightly mustard flavour, young leaves a tasty addition to salads or lightly cooked. Hardy and vigorous, survives cold temperatures throughout winter.

  • Salad mix

    Salad mix

A mix of lush cut-n-come varieties to pick for salads from successional sowings all year round. Includes lettuces, mustard leaves, pac choi, rocket, purslane etc.
