What to plant now – May

The list of vegetables you can plant in May is a long one. You can plant out Pumpkins,Courgettes, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Peppers (under cover) and late sowing for Kales, Cabbages, Chard and Sprouting Broccoli.

May is the ideal time to plant your carrots & parsnips but be careful as there is still a risk of ground frost so you should have gardening fleece at hand to cover tender crops at short notice. Even though your lettuces and salads are planted now you should be planting more towards the end of the month, this ‘succession planting’ will provide you with a constant supply of fresh salads for the summer months.
