Gardening Tips for June

While it may be too late for tomatoes and peppers, most summer producers will grow even more quickly from seed planted in early summer when the soil is well warmed up. Don’t hesitate in planting seeds for cucumber, peas, beans, winter squashes, pumpkins as well as beets, carrots and chard.

The dangers of late frost has now past, and the hardening off of your outdoor crops should be finished up. So you should now be able to ”plant out” the like of runner beans, dwarf beans and outdoor varieties of tomatoes. Keep pinching out the side shoots of you tomatoes but do keep an eye out for any pests that may warrant attention.
