Vacancies : “Head Gardener” and “Supporter & Community Engagement Officer”

We are growing……We have TWO exciting new vacancies at Irish Seed Savers for a Head Gardener and a Supporter & Community Engagement Officer.

Head Gardener.

Reliable, skilled Head Gardener required for renowned conservation organisation. Working with a team of three to maintain the heritage seed gardens, including 3 individual growing areas, 6 polytunnels, a glasshouse and seed bank. Main Responsibilities will include: Organic seed-to-seed crop production; sowing, planting, transplanting, tending, harvesting and overall soil management. Supervision of the garden team, volunteers and work experience students; Planning, organising and prioritising garden work in collaboration with seed bank coordinator, including observations, record keeping and project work. Maintenance of beds, polytunnels, hedges, paths, sheds. Collaborate with Nursery and Orchard team, Education team and Facilities and Maintenance worker for effective planning and management of 20 acre heritage gardens, orchards and school gardens. Maintaining IOFGA standards and preparing reports.

Supporter & Community Engagement Officer.

While maintaining our supporter and donor base, this role will focus on growing our footprint throughout local communities, nationwide home growers and community groups. Connecting with the wider public, in collaboration with our Marketing, Sales and Development function, this role will also work with our outreach focus to connect more people to the our work in food conservation and education. Main Responsibilities will include: Maintain the supporter database – process new supporters and renewals on our e-commerce system. Administer necessary correspondence to our supporters on a regular basis. Connect with our supporter base to meet their needs and maintain awareness of projects and fundraising opportunities. Support the various departments in dealing with queries and encouraging supporters to participate in all aspects of our work in food conservation and education. Creating potential opportunities with community groups and organisations to develop opportunities for increasing our supporter base, workshops, visitors, and corporate support of our work. Work with Marketing, Sales and Development team on fundraising and awareness opportunities.
