Summer course for teachers
The Year Round Organic School Garden
This course demonstrates how to plan and create an organic school garden. It shows how to develop various habitats and increase biodiversity in the school grounds.
We will visit an established school garden, and also audit, plan and design a garden for a new location.We will look at the cross curricular potential that a school garden offers and how it integrates with SESE, SPHE, Art, Languages, History and Maths.
This is a fun, practical, hands-on course that includes.

- Seed sowing and plant care
- Soil care and natural fertilisers
- Crop rotations
- Pest and diseases control
- Making raised beds
- Planting out
- Plant identification
This course will benefit any school wishing to attain their biodiversity green flag.
