National Biodiversity Week / Blossom Week begins on May the 13th at Irish Seed Savers and culminates with our Seed & Plant Share Day on Sunday 18th May. Throughout the week we have a wide range of activities for young and old alike.
This also marks the reopening of our Café which will be serving a menu of: soups, salads, cakes, tea & coffee.
- Free Admissions all week (including Seed & Plant Share Day)
- 2pm Talk Tues,Wed, Thu Seed Bank Talk with Jo Newton (talk will be about the Irish varieties we have grown over the years, and in particular what varieties were most successful last season), plus seed sowing demo
- Blossom Talk (after seed bank talk) showcasing the orchards and varieties at their most beautiful. Visitors will be given maps to find each individual variety relevant to their region.
- Family Food trail (every day) Visitors will follow the trail of where the all the Irish varieties are in the gardens (signposted with Irish flag coloured streamers). They will end in the school garden, and then, back at the cafe, children will be given free seeds to take home.
