Scion wood

Question?

Do you have any more detailed information about the apple variety’s with regard to taste, disease resistance , etc. I would like to get some Irish varieties. Also how much is entry fee to the orchard as we are planning a visit in early August.

Thanks for the reply and information contained on the links. i was wondering if it may be possible to get some scion wood from your trees which i will try to graft myself? I can harvest myself with your permission.

Answer:

Our policy is not to allow people to collect scion wood from our trees due to reasons of pruning strategy, disease issues, and the need to keep our scion wood for our own propagation work. However we do send small bundles (3 to 4 sticks) to ISSA supporters on request

In two weeks time we will have a ‘Scion Request Service’ and you would be welcome to use this to request varieties of your choice (subject to an availability list which will be posted on our website), although please note we reserve this service for supporters only so please have your supporter number ready as part of the application… if you are not currently a supporter then I would ask you to consider joining to support our conservation work and avail of benefits such as this service.
